Pioneering work at Pioneer
Maschinen- und Anlagenbau
Abstract
This application report covers the development and initial installation of modular systems for integrity testing and optical inspection of freshly filled blow-fill-seal containers at Pioneer Co. for Pharmaceutical Industries in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. This involves 3 linear systems: 2 for in-line inspection and leakage checks on infusion bottles containing large-volume parenterals and another for identifying and rejecting small-volume parenterals in ampoule strips that are not marketable. The case study emphasises how the development and integration of the 3 inspection devices proceeded in each instance. It also describes the technological and functional differences between the devices and explains how they have been used in daily operations to implement automatic container closure integrity testing and gapless inspection of each pack. The focus is on the constructive and optomechanical features of the device design, as well as the specially developed camera and image processing technologies.
