Advanced Testing of Granule Friability Determined from Size Distribution DataSari Airaksinen, Osmo Antikainen, Jukka Rantanen, and Jouko Yliruusi Knowledge of the optimal mechanical strenght of granules is important for the subsequent processes, e.g. tableting. Friability testing using only one sieve cannot recognize, for example, a preferential reduction of larger or smaller granules. In this study, a more informative and accurate granule friability testing method for routine use was developed. The friability index with the median and mode values represents the integrated decrease of all particle sizes during attrition. This method can be modified to test various granules and pellets for different purposes. Key words Friability · Granulation · Sieve analysis |
