Secondary Packaging Material for Glass Containers / Exemplified by mono-material cardboard packaging

Secondary packaging solutions for glass containers - especially for parenteral applications - are changing. The trend moves away from the classic combination of folding cartons plus PVC-tray toward mono-material cardboard packaging. Not only ecological factors influence this trend but the innovative packaging solutions and the modular and flexible concipated packaging lines of the newest generation as well.
The transportability of this new type of secondary packaging is as convincing and in single cases even better than that of conventional PVC-trays. The same bacteriological permit for unobjectability goes for mono-material cardboard packaging for sensitive objects such as cartridges, disposable syringes and pens as for PVC.
The process costs lie lower with the new systems than with conventional lines. WhiteLine concepts make a step toward solving the Just-In-Time problematics in the packaging process. The challenge to be met: Patient Compliance, Patient Convenience as well as Child Resist-ance.
