Friability of Granules - Evaluation of Different Test Methods The aim of this study was the comparison of different friability testing methods for pellets and granules. Serveral pellets and granules werde investigated by three methods (air stream apparatus, Bolatec Friabimat and Roche Friabilator). The optimal settings of the Bolatec Friabimat and Roche Friabilator were investigated by two central composite designs. The results of the investigation show that the air stream apparatus is very well suited for the determination of the friability of harder granules and pellets. The Bolatec Friabimat is suitable for softer granules, which cannot be measured in the air stream. The Roche Friabilator which was developed for tablets seems to be not suitable for pellets and granules, as the mechanical strain is too low to measure friability.
